THE PERFECT MIX

Soil & Climate

The demarcated area for the production of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Corinthia wines includes the entire prefecture of Corinthia that is located in the northeastern Peloponnese.

Peloponnesian PGI wines, according to national and European wine legislation do not belong to the same quality category as PDO wines, but to a great extent, they demonstrate originality and authenticity in terms of their varieties and production areas. Similar to all Greek PGI wines, Peloponnesian PGI wines can be divided into 3 categories, depending on the area their zones cover:

  • PGI Regional wines (Regions),
  • PGI District wines (former Prefectures), and
  • PGI Area Wines.

PGI Corinthia wine belongs to the PGI District wines (former Prefectures). The PGI Corinth cultivation zone is very extensive. Its characteristic is the sharp altitude difference, as the altitude starts from 200m. and reaches up to 850m., but also the variety of terrains and orientations. Most of the vineyards in the zone extend on slopes. The climate is warm Mediterranean, with rainfalls.
